Why We Must Stand with Our Trans Siblings and Call Out the Real Threat
No one left behind: Democrats and even some LGBTQIA+ people struggle to answer this question when the moral and political stand is crystal clear.
A note from Lawrence
A Democratic push poll called me about trans rights, and every answer it offered was so mealy-mouthed I wanted to throw my phone. I’m a gay man in his fifties living in a very red state, and I have watched my own community trade away trans protections for a promised seat at the table more times than I can count.
So here it is without hedging: trans people are human beings, not a debate. The attacks on their health care, their kids, and their bathrooms are cruelty and a smokescreen for a party that has stopped governing. You can’t both-sides human rights, and no one gets left behind. That’s the deal.
