When Zelenskyy warned that cutting off aid to Ukraine could drag America and Europe into World War III, I didn’t feel shock. I felt vindication. My alarms had been screaming for months. Then I sat with my eighty-three-year-old mother, who depends on Social Security, as she asked how worried she should be about Musk’s crew inside government systems.
My generation grew up with The Day After and the mushroom cloud waiting in our future. The war came anyway, just in a new form: disinformation and the bending of reality itself. We lost the first battle without knowing we were in it. Facing that is the first step. Then we organize, and we try to be the light in the darkness together.
