They Threw Our Trans Siblings Overboard. Again. F@#k That.
Log Cabin Republicans drop the T—and audition for a lifeboat that was never coming for them.
A note from Lawrence
The Log Cabin Republicans voted to drop transgender people from their mission, in the same month the federal government started stripping trans people from their passports. The organization was born to fight a purge of gay teachers in 1978. Now it has looked at the people being purged today and pulled up the ladder.
I’ve watched this experiment before. In 2007, gender identity was cut from ENDA to make the bill “winnable,” and it protected no one. Throwing your trans siblings off the sled has never once slowed the wolves. The people who carried us through the worst years didn’t check whether we were respectable first. That’s what queer means to me, and these men aren’t it.
