The Next Global Superpower Is Already Taking Shape
Canada, Europe, and Ukraine are building something much bigger than NATO.
A note from Lawrence
Here’s my prediction: the newest superpower of the twenty-first century will be Canada, the European Union, and Ukraine, bound together. It sounds wild until you line up the news. Mark Carney is exploring an associate membership in the EU, and the EU, never flexible about new members, is apparently open to it.
Days earlier, Carney and Zelenskyy signed a hundred-year deal to mass-produce Ukrainian battle drones in Canada, with Ukraine getting thirty percent of the output. Put Europe’s market, Canada’s resources and manufacturing, and Ukraine’s hard-won experience fighting a modern war together, and you get something capable of redrawing the map for the rest of the century.
