Susan Collins’s Allies Can’t Find Maine with a F@#king Map
A GOP super PAC aimed its Troy Jackson attack ad at the wrong Portland, 3,000 miles off. Basically, the grown-ups are not in charge.
A note from Lawrence
Anyone who knows how ZIP codes work should have caught this. Maine’s start with 0, and everything the PAC was booking started with 97. Defending Main Street, a Republican super PAC that calls itself “the governing wing” of the party, spent $20,000 to $25,000 on a digital ad attacking Troy Jackson, the Democrat running against Susan Collins, and aimed it at Portland, Oregon, and Washington state. That’s more than 1.25 million impressions on the wrong ocean.
A woman out West named Lillian Belle noticed first, after five anti-Troy Jackson ads in a day. Jackson’s spokesman said Collins and her allies can’t even find Maine on a map. The vendor refunded the money, and the PAC says no donor funds were lost. Now the part I mean: don’t mistake a dumb PAC for a dead campaign. The ad is fixed, and two more debates are coming.
